Another Canadian crew has advanced to the finals at the 2005 World Rowing Junior Championships in Brandenburg, Germany (Aug. 3 to 6).
The men's pair of Will Crothers of Kingston, Ont. and Richard Anderson of Victoria, B.C. convincingly won its semi-final in 7:19.34, followed by Italy (7:23.51) and Romania (7:26.85). The top three crews in each semi move to tomorrow's medal round.
"They worked their way through the field to take the lead and raced according to their plan," said Rowing Canada Junior Coordinator John Ruscitti. "We're looking forward to some exciting finals."
Canada will have two chances for medals - the pair, and the mens coxed four that qualified yesterday.
The junior men's four of Greg Pupo of Ridgeville, Ont., Grant Doornekamp of Wainfleet, Ont., Ben Tuyp of Vancouver, B.C., and Jeff Overington of Kingston, Ont. finished fourth, and will row in the B final. Great Britain, Croatia and Serbia and Montenegro move to the final as a result of this semi.
